Lyric Theatre

Not the Lyric but the Texas Theatre in Brady which presently isn’t in the database. This is a big parade on May 23, 1946 in downtown Brady as Yvonne De Carlo is two cars back to celebrate first-car dignitary G.I. Bill Shanks, AAF Captain, who was launching the unrelated Texas Theatre.

First feature at the Texas was De Carlo’s “Frontier Gal” on May 23d. Shanks answered an ad by Universal Studios which said the company would set-up the first GI with his or her own movie theater. Shanks apparently was the first and Universal was on hand at the parade to celebrate.
