Rialto Theatre

The silent-era predecessor to the Rialto was the Acme Theatre started by owner Albert E. Warren with some other investors. It was named by Miss Elizabeth Baxter in a contest and she won a five dollar gold piece presented at the opening on Nov. 7, 1913. By 1916, Warren was the only owner/investor. Here, he has a cooperative ad for “Through the Back Door” in 1921.which won the winner, Miss Elizabeth Baxter, a five dollar gold piece on Nov. 7, 1913. This movie theatre stayed in business showing silent films until Dec. 21, 1928. In the sound era, A-P moviegoers went to the Arkansas Pass Theatre as Hall Industries Theatre Circuit took over and made the conversion to sound. Hall Industries would then build the town a new theater, the Rialto which replaced the Acme/A-P.
