Merrylands Hoyts Kinema
It is not clear why in September 1929 the president of the Merrylands Chamber of Commerce thinks he has a ‘right’ to know when Mr Beszant was going to install sound - but it is good to know there was interest in the topic. (Joseph T. Smith was a local real estate agent for the owner). It is for the theater operator to decide whether the investment was worthwhile for his business. Western Electric sound (the best and most expensive) was duly installed on Saturday 5 April 1930. Kinema manager until October 1936 was C. E. Brown, who then transferred to Granville. He was replaced by a Mr. Porter from Guildford. Projectionist at this time was Richard Proudfoot.
