•
A few ads as the Northside Drive-In became the Wilmington Drive-In. A TV demonstration at left in the 1950s and then a later 1970s ad trying to get the return of stolen letters from the attraction board is worth $100. At bottom, the town of Wilmington was not quite ready for the triple feature X-rated content. Voices of displeasure moved the Chakeres Circuit away from the porno chic films.

•
Launched June 9, 1948 with “The Shocking Miss Pilgrim,” the Northside Drive-In was underway. The theatre would become the Wilmington Drive-In as the Triangle Drive-In Theatre gave way quickly to the Northside Drive-In Theatre Corporation which sold out to long-time owner Chakeres Theatre Circuit and its subsidiary Wilmington Theatre Corp.

•
The Welfare Hall Alice Springs NT - Photo courtesy of the “Punch & Marilyn Hall Collection - "Greg Lynch says - "The Show Must Go On” - The Welfare hall was located on the low lands running down to the Todd river. There is no doubt in my mind that the powers that be construction the building on stilts to keep it free & clear of any
future flooding of The Alice. The Argus Melbourne ran this article March 2. 1936
“The Todd River has run bank-high five times
in as many days, and the weather Is still
threatening. Alice Springs has had five
inches of rain In the last week. The road
to Tennant Creek is impassable, and the
mail train which left there a week ago
Is marooned 100 miles north of Alice
Springs. Although Alice Springs prom-
ises to be cut off from the outside world
for a long period, thankfully food Is not scarce” -
