  • <p>After a soft launch on June 28, 1948, the long running Salem Drive-In Theater would have its Grand Opening on June 28, 1948 with “Red Stallion.” The theater would be joined for a brief period by its sister, “South Salem Drive-In Theater” necessitating the change to the North Salem Drive-In Theater.</p>

  • <p>It’s July 30, 1953 and time for the Urbana Multiscope Drive-In to open with “Silvery Moon.” Park your car in front of your individualized screen! (Ad on left). After two years, the experimental drive-in closed at the end of the 1955 season. But in 1957, two new operators reopened the Multiscope for one more season and the great “Shack Out on 101” will be one of the opening pictures.</p>

              <p>Steel beams and floor deck profiles now added to form the new balcony for the “glass box” feature that will cantilever out into LSQ, creating an extended circle foyer with seating and views across the square.</p>

  • <p>The good ol' Midway!  On July 10th, I had gone to see Final Exam at the indoor Mann theater.  As we were driving home, we passed the Midway and was able to see the end credits roll of Final Exam starting.  Good times!</p>
