“RKO Orpheum Theater - June 17, 1964
Here’s another view of the crowd lined up to see the RKO Orpheum matinee double feature, “For Those Who Think Young” and “Tiara Tahiti.” The sign under the marquee reads “Healthfully Air Conditioned - COOL.”
Businesses to the left of the theater were Allen’s Jewelers “Diamond Brokers,” 112 E. Third Street, managed by Albert W. Siegel, and Lewis Cleaners, 114 E. Third Street. The main plant of Lewis Cleaners was located at 2114 E. 11th Street. They also had branches at the Village Shopping Center, Duck Creek Plaza and in Rock Island at 1910 Third Avenue.
Parked out front of the theater was the “Italian Village” van. The restaurant was located at 220 Harrison Street, but they also had a drive-in at 1211 State Street in Bettendorf. Their car hops were paid 90-cents per hour at that time."
