I live only a couple of miles from this theater, and I would love to support it more—it has so much potential. But every time I go there, I get depressed. If it’s not mediocre projection or sound, it’s the obnoxious teenage twits in the audience who talk at top volume throughout and constantly change seats or run up and down the aisles to get concessions.
Maybe I’m spoiled because in the mid-to-late 90s, this theater was managed by a team that did a great job. The picture and sound were both top-notch, and the theater was even outfitted for DTS and 70-millimeter. They showed some imagination in their bookings and had a great midnight series.
I know it’s unrealistic to expect something similar now, but the new presentation is shoddy, even by second-run standards. Most of the time, it sounds like they don’t even turn the stereo soundtrack on. It’s an utter waste of the biggest screen in the Dayton area. I suppose since they charge only $1, they feel they don’t have to do much of a job. You certainly get what you pay for—-not much.
