Located in the north-eastern Victoria town of Cobram, close to the border with New South Wales. The Melba Theatre opened as a single screen cinema on 1st December 1948, with the double bill programme; Clifton Webb in “Sitting Pretty” and Greer Garson in “How Green Was My Valley”. Seating was provided for 450.
The Melba Cinema was built on the site of a disused tennis court, and originally there were lawns and a garden in front of the building.
