MADDINGTON CENTENARY HALL OFFICIAL OPENING.
Maddington district will be en fete on Saturday, January 18, 1930, for the official opening of a long felt want - a public hall.
For months past the people of the district have watched the erection of the hall, and now it is completed. The key was handed over to the Road Board on Monday last.
The hall is a splendid building, and is a monument to those responsible for its erection. Men may come and men may go, but the hall will be there for ever. Situated on the main road, it is in an excellent position, and has been in the eye of thousands of people who utilise the Albany road as a national highway. The people of Maddington intend to make the official opening of their modern, up to date hall an epoch in the history of the district.
The opening ceremony will be performed by the Hon the Premier, Mr. P. Collier, M.L.A. A number of other prominent speakers will assist, and a splendid concert programme has been arranged. Following the opening the floor will be cleared for the first dance.
The hall is now available for hire, and those desiring to secure same should make early application to the secretary of the Road Board (Mr. Rushton), who will allot the hall on available dates.
The Swan and Canning Leader, Friday 17th January 1930.
