I noticed that the copy of the Battlefield above that Joe Vogel linked to, includes three different Pitts theatres. One is called the Leader. Does anyone know anything about this theatre? I’m able to find old newspaper ads, but no address.
The McDonald’s is closed but nothing has taken its place yet. If you peep through the doors, you can still see the decorations with the fake “Godzilla” movie theater marquee!
This theatre status needs to be changed from Open to Closed. The building was knocked down at least a decade ago while I was still a VT student, and a new building not related to the theatre was put in its place. The Capri Twin sign remained up for several years past demolition but when I was back in Blacksburg a few years ago, it looked like it, too, had finally been removed. To my knowledge there’s no theatre operating in or around that area now by that name …
I am very curious about this place – does anyone have any pictures of the inside of this mall or of the theatres? by the way, unfortunately the unique mcdonalds has now closed.
The FedEx Office shop in the middle of this complex could possibly have some traces left of this theatre. Inside are stairs to a second level which includes what looks like a projection booth that overlooks the first level.
