Photo from an old newspaper article taken prior to the 1928 installation of Maynard Dixon’s mural, “Goddess of Fire” which was attached to the wall over the entrance doors of the Fox Oakland’s outer lobby. In the 1940s, when the lobby was remodeled, this mural was hidden behind a wall. During Christmas season, in either 1984 or 1985, when the Dickens Faire was using the theatre, the mural was peeled from the wall and disappeared. According to what I was told by a woman associated with the Faire at the time, the mural’s appropriation was part of a cocaine deal.

I’ve been trying to track down a photo of this mural installed in the theater, and potentially the mural itself. Do you have the contact info of the woman associated with the Dickens faire, or remember her name?
