Taken on the 4th June 2005. This shows the balcony circle, with it’s ornate decorative work. This open day was the last opportunity the public had to see inside the building. It had already had the 1958 interior removed at this point and the windows, which had been blocked up during it’s use as a cinema, were unblocked. Within the circle balcony, they had started to removed the seating. This is prior to the “Transformation” project, which saw the Leeds Grand Theatre renovated and the Howard Assembly Rooms “restored” to it’s appearance in the 1880s. The ceiling and decorative curved circle were ripped out as part of the reversion of the building to it’s original appearance.
