Does anyone know when the new laser projectors are schedule to he installed here. Freehold and Monmouth AMC got them recently and Brick is scheduled as per the ‘Coming Soon’ page on the AMC website. This theater is in dire need of the upgrade!
Is the Paramus IMAX screen much larger than the one in New Brunswick. New Brunswick is closer to me… I’d like to check out Laser at some point. Wish it was coming to the Monmouth Mall AMC. Maybe next year. Trying to scope out the best place to see The Rise of Skywalker before tickets go on sale soon.
That’s terrible. So any movie shot in flat AR will have black bars? I believe Justice League was flat and had proper masking in Dolby Cinema Monmouth Mall
Saw the Batman 1989 40th Anniversary screening here. Very nice image and sound but they didn’t use any masking. Film is flat AR and the black bars weren’t covered up. I thought about saying something but figured nothing could be done about it.
Yea, so is there literally no need for a projectionist nowadays? I can’t say the analog days were any better, really. Movies locally always kinda looked crappy to my recollection.
Man, this place is in a sorry state. Resembles a second-run discount theater. Checked out auditorium 4, one of their larger houses and the projection was sooo bad. Incredibly dark and color was way off. Theater totally went down the tubes.
Audio was fine, nothing to write home about. I saw the movie at Marquee Orchard 10 in TR… sound was much better but the screen was dark there too and it the projector didn’t seem like it was calibrated properly. The IMAX at AMC Monmouth was immensely better from an image quality standard. And the sound, hoo-boy. Probably a little too loud for my tastes but it was pretty incredible.
I saw Avengers: Endgame here opening weekend in auditorium 9 and the screen was so dark it was ridiculous. I contacted AMC through the online chat service but I have no idea if they will even address the issue. The theater manager told me the equipment was just checked recently and was certified by a tech. I’ve since seen the movie in other theaters locally and the image was much brighter and clearer so I feel confident saying it was an issue with that particular theater. It’s a shame how much of a crap-shoot seeing a movie in theaters is these days.
So I was able to get seats in row D, the fourth row back. Judging by the number of seats shown on Fandango these are small seats with probably space between rows. I got the 8pm show in auditorium 13. For anyone familiar with the theater will I be too close?
How would you say they compare from a technology perspective? The E-Walk seems to have smaller screen sizes in the regular auditoriums. And what about their projection technology, do you know if they use 4K projectors for regular 2D movies? I believe AMC uses Sony digital 4k.
Just got tickets to see The Last Jedi here Fri 12/15. I imagine this place is going to be a total madhouse? It could be fun to see the movie with a raucous crowd I just worry the audience might be a bunch of rowdy kids. Thoughts?
By the way how is the Dolby auditorium there? Only other Dolby Cinema I’ve been to is the one in Eatontown NJ and it’s nice but it’s plagued by the red lights casing a red haze at the corners of the screen. The image quality is spectacular otherwise.
Theater now upgraded to 4K Laser at AMC. Official site just hasn’t been updated yet. Massive improvement!
How does it look? :)
I have tickets for 5p tomorrow!

Will MarkP be running Oppenheimer in 70mm at this location?
@Moviebuff why? Rockaway is really far away and doesn’t have IMAX laser

Anyone here been to this theater? If so, how is the IMAX or Dolby?
Why would someone see black bars with scope? Not following you

Judging from this picture it looks like this theater also suffers from the red lights casting a glow on the edges of the screen? Is that the case?

Looks like I found the answer to my own question.

Some decents seats for 5:15 2D showing but it seems it will be in one of their smaller auditoriums.
Would you say Regal is a better venue than AMC Empire? Lots of showtimes there.

Is it worth driving extra mileage for this Dolby theater vs. the Garden State auditorium or are they comparable?

Yea I’m not worried about this to be honest.
