it eventually was closed down and turned into a church because there really wasnt any people traffic to it, since u had both the essex and circle theaters closeby. also, it was located on the corner of a one-way traffic route.
the theater eventually closed due to the united artists movie theater opening up a few blocks west of it back in 1996. the theater is now a private clinic.
@simon- actually it was opened a little further west of where the old zayre’s/ames dept. store stood about ½ block up. where zayres stood is now a mini-shopping center of sorts.
i remember goin there to see a version of pinocchio once on the big screen when i was younger
it was demolished and became a home depot
the area became townhomes in the late 80’s.
target took over the property and built a superstore there where it still stands
