The Apollo North opened on March 28, 1980 as first-run triplex. A fourth screen was added in 1982 and the nearby Apollo South was added in 1984. The two theatres were advertised as the Apollo VIII from June 29, 1984 to June 13, 1985. In 1989 the Apollo North closed.
The Apollo South remained open as discount house until 1999.

The Apollo III cinema opened on March 28th, 1980. No grand opening ad found, just regular listings. Wasn’t this Muvico’s first location?
This was opened by an independent operator who also ran the other Apollo, Aladdin, America and Ambassador.
Both Apollos were marketed as Apollo VIII on June 29th, 1984-June 13th, 1985.
Muvico closed the north part of the Apollo on June 29, 1989 likely opting out at the five-year point of a sublease.
