I Recently found a jewel from my childhood…a picture of the Port Theater, circa 1959 in Jacinto City, Tx. There is where I grew up in the late 40s, early 50s! Still looking for a pic of the Galena Theater in Galena Park, Tx. These along with a few others were owned by O.K. Theatre Enterprises in Dallas, Tx. Oskar Korn was president; Albert Rains, booker. I tried to trace the O.K. Korn family through my limited online sites but no luck. Anyone out there have anything to add?? Theaters listed were: Lisbon [Dallas]; Midway, Galena [Galena Park]; Avalon, Globe, Grand, Hi Nabor Drive In; Lindale; Port [Jacinto City; Venus [Denver Harbor]. Regards. Jeff Brant, Seabrook Tx 77586

Don,
My late father was from Post 1919-1939. I was able to visit Post some years after my dad died. Got a couple of theater pictures there. I have not yet checked to see if they are posted…but I would imagine you have beat me to it! Thanks for the reply.
Jeff
Ken,
Are you from the Houston area? I am going to try to post a picture I have of the Port. I grew up in Jacinto City in the 50’s!
Thanks,
jeff in Texas
Does anyone remember the Capitan, an indoor theater? It has been remodeled and looks great from the outside. I think it might be part of the city of pasadena’s municipal government now, as of 2012. I’ll try to post a picture of it.
I wonder if any of you folks who post here regularly[Lostmemory, sepitone, chuck1231, TL SLOWES, et al…] are from the Greater Houston, Tx area?
Thanks to you folks, I have also just discoverd Flicker and all the possibilities provided there for taking me back down memory lane!
I realize that one might be reluctant to post an email address here, but if would, I would love to contact you regarding the old theaters, school buildings and other Houston area pictures.
Thank you, CSWalczak! I wonder if any of you folks who post here regularly[Lostmemory, sepitone, chuck1231, TL SLOWES] are from the Greater Houston, Tx area?

Mike,
I am new here to this site and I love it! Can you give me any pointers on “how to navigate” CT? Are email addresses available? Any info you have would be appreciated!

Mr. EnnisCAdkins,
Greetings from Houston, Tx. I really enjoyed your comments and memories from your days in Houston. I sadly agree with you about the “powers that be” in Houston for letting the old movie theaters go by the wayside. I’m sure it is like everything else in the world…“economics”…just wish I could go around buying up all the old theaters! Hey, maybe Warren Buffett [sp?] !!!!!!
I cannot find the “original Interstate photo” of the Eastwood theater mentioned by GE Skelton. I must admit I am new to this site so any help, suggestions, would be greatly appreciated. Kudos also to Kencmcintyre and Sepiatone on all their comments!!! Is there a central place to answers to each of my many questions or do I need to go back to each individual posting to find comments related to that particular question? Thanks, again for your help.
Is it permissible or even possilbe to email members directly with questions? If so, how do I go about it.
What a wonderful site!!!! I just joined and have so many questions. Does anyone have pictures of the Port theater in Jacinto City, tx other than the one shown?
Where do you folks get your information concerning the old theaters histories, etc?
Thanks,
Jeff in Houston, Tx.
PS I have many old theater photos from around the state and will be happy to share. Is it ok to do that on this site??

Here is the Venus in August of 1997. It was in Denver Harbor on Lyons, just off Market Street.
