Trust me folks it was the Civic Theatre in Queen St Auckland. I had friends who were in the audience as part of the fim.
I also worked in this theatre many years ago as a cashier for various film festivals.
It was originally a large cinema, then the Wintergarden was placed in the stalls area. Don’t know what year this was. The Wintergarden Theatre was removed when the Civic was restored.

Things are happening to the ‘old gal’. I went walking past their recently and noticed that the theatre has been re-painted from top to bottom. Does anyone know what is happening? Is the building to be a night club or theatre again.

This theatre has been closed for several years. It was converted to a triple screen known as Albert 1 2 & 3. Last year this complex was closed in favor of the Greater Union/Hoyts “merger” in Brisbane.
Is there any news of what is to happen to the old girl.
I will be in NYC Jan 2-4, 2008. Any possiblility of a tour of this theatre or any others.
