The facade of Cinema Le Gamaar was created on the back lot
of Studio Babelsberg, Berlin. The building was entirely
a set and never existed. The auditorium was shot in an
abandoned cement factory outside Berlin for the great
fire scene. Great scenic decor.

I grew up in Inglewood in the 1940s and 50s. I actually worked at the Fox, Academy and Fifth Avenue. The Fox was a replacement for the Granada which
burnt down which was located on the same site. The Fox has no stage to speak of just the apron and footlights. There is an alley out behind
the wall but no space to expand outward to create a stage house. To go
forward into the auditorium will require a rebuild of the proscenium
and the loss of seats and a change of the spacial feeling of the house.
In addition to these cinemas there was the Inglewood (gone), United Artists,
plus a cinema on Market Street, south of Manchester Blvd. run by Loew's
at one time. Once there were six movie houses now there are none.

JohnChappell commented about Owner promises renovation of Los Angeles and Palace theaters if... on Nov 5, 2009 at 2:30 am

The Pershing Square Garage is a block away, open I believe 24
hours a day. It was built in 1952 under Pershing Square holding
several hundred cars. Where is the need for another facility
since the business community empties out by sunset? The argument
used by Mr. Delijani (owner) is faulty. Sounds a bit peculiar
having a local B.I.D. acquire these other properties in order
for him to advance his plans on the Los Angeles & Palace Theatres.

And there is the grand old movie palace in Jersey City, NJ (just
across the Hudson River from Manhattan), Loew’s Jersey at Journal
Square accessible by PATH trains from Manhattan. Do call first,
201.798.6055 to determine if the building will be open. Worth the
trip.

So maybe you should have waited to announce this site until you
were ready. Looking at blank pages and “coming soon” doesn't
do it.
