The Martin, or as it was later known The Martin Twin, was part of the old Kingsport Mall. You entered the theatre from inside the mall. The entire mall structure was demolished a couple of years ago, and a new shopping complex, sans theatre, stands in the former location.
I remember this theatre when it was operated by ABC Southeastern. Being from another town, I only saw one film there in the late ‘70s, a rerelease of 2001: A Space Odyssey. I remember this theatre had a really wide screen. It was a great place to see this film for the first time. I’ll always remember it fondly.
I’m not sure when, but this theatre has been demolished to make way for a wellness center parking lot.
