The Supermarket that the theatre became can be seen in the 1993 Movie, Hanging' with the Homeboys with John Leguizamo,Nestor Serrano, Doug E. Doug & Mario Joyner…
I’m confused.. Is the Allerton & Barnes the same theatre?? I remember seeing Class of 1990 w/ a date when I was in H.S then went across the street to a Chinese Restaurant. It was on Allerton, a couple of blocks from the 2train Station
They have this theatre mixed up with the one on 161st across from the family courthouse & a block from the Grand Concourse & a few from Yankee Stadium.. This is in Co- op City, Bay Plaza….
Last movie I saw here was E.T when I was in the 6th grade. Used to go there all the time when I was young to see the latest Disney Movies with my Summer camp here & the American. Good Memories..
Grew up in the Soundview Area & went to C.S 152 back in 81-83 but I remember the Marquee after it closed. Last time I been past there it was a Cookie’s Department Store…
Okay Ed, I’m gonna check out what you just wrote me when I’m over there. Grew up after it closed in Monroe Houses.. Thanks Man… Will report what I see…grew up going to The Circle, Loews American, The Palace & Whitestone.
I know there a daycare there now called Seven Corners. Is that the old Beach Theatre or was it across the street on Taylor & Randall?? The building are referring to has a playground on top of the building & I think is red in color… If that’s not the old beach then the building must be on Randall btw beach & Taylor Av across from DeFranco Pharmacy & the Medical Office ( on Randall)…
Used to live on Stebbins ave & 163rd… We used to go to that church in the summertime for free lunches in the 70’s.. A school is right on the corner..
You can still see “LOEWS” etched in the brick when leaving the 4 train down the stairs to West Fordham & Jerome Ave.. Look @ Kenroe pics above..
