Favorite movies: In no particular order Local Hero, Cocteau's Beauty and the Beast, 2001, Barry Lyndon, Miller's Crossing, Ettore Scola's Le Bal, The Third Man and many more. And now a few words about Akira Kurosawa. You would not be wasting your time by watching any of his 30 films. Even his lesser regarded ones are better that some directors best. Try not to miss his early film One Wonderful Sunday if for no other reason than the fact that it is so different from anything else he made. Naturally Seven Samurai is at the top of my list but as I have aged I think that Ikiru may be a more important film. Takashi Shimura's performances in the two are a wonder to behold. I could go on but I will run out of room and I don;t want to bore you. Cheers to those that created this website!!
