“J.F.Lundy” this is directed to you!
You seem to have the most knowledge out of everyone here.
I went to your profile, but it didn’t say much at all.
I’d like to know if you have anything to do with the Lundy Brothers Restuarant in Sheepshead Bay?
Also, If you know of where I can go to see photo’s and to find out more about the old “Mayfair Theatre” and The “Grace Theatre” in Brooklyn.
You can e-mail me directly at:
Thanks…
I remember when they first started to empty out the area where the entrance to back stage was. They emptied out tons of old costumes, probably from the old vaudville days. Sadly, all those garments when directly into a dumpster. Its a crime, when this sort of thing happens. Its like finding a time capsule, and just destroying it, and not realizing what it could reveal about our own self…
Several years ago, I went to the old Brooklyn Paramount with my wife because she was registering for some classes. A good friend of hers is the sports trainer. The sports medicine area, is where the dressing rooms used to be. As a matter of fact, I was led to the exact area that “Buddy Holly and His Comets” hung out back stage…
…Believe me! You could feel the vibes!!!
Hey! Rob! Glad that you are interested. I’m a person who respects Sinatra as well… Yes! My father first told me before he passed away. My family is from Coney, there are some things that only the origanal locals would know…
Be well…
Hey Mark! If you could e-mail me some of those photo’s that you took, that would be great. My family is from Coney Island and a theatre in Coney Island is just too much to resist!
Thanks!
I grew up just a few blocks from the Mayfair. When Batman and Robin’s t.v. series was a big thing in the sixties, the Batman movie was shown at the Mayfair. Batman and Robin rolled up to the theatre in the Batmobile, leaped out and greeted their fans.
After signing some autographs, they ran into the theatre and jumped onto the stage and began answering questions from the kids in the seats. Many years later, about a week before the Mayfair close, I saw the Beatles,“Magical Mystery Tour”. A week later, it was very sad, I was walking by and it was being bulldozed while old tickets from the past, began to soar into the air…

Does anyone know where I can find some photo’s of the Grace Theatre, when it was a theatre?

I don’t have the details just yet, but I will get them…
I think its sac-religous, with everything that has happened with all the theatre’s in brooklyn. To me, they are like Roman Monuments…
Does anyone know, that at one time the Loews was own by “Ol Blue Eyes” himself? “Frank Sinatra”…
