This building is vacant again. The Office Max facade remains in the front, but the inside has been gutted, and the building still looks very much like a movie theater. Certainly would be cool if it became one again (not that I’m getting my hopes up or anything).
You’re right, there was a McRory’s in the space next to the old theatre, which is now occupied by Mega Movies. I don’t remember ever being in this theater when it was in its original two-screen form, but I do remember going in there during the 5-plex era, and even as a kid I thought that the design was absolutely terrible. Mega Movies is an improvement, but there are still much better places to go for movies in this area.
I do also remember the Movie City 5 located a half-mile south on Route 18.
Yeah, I first started going here when it was a 12-plex. Shortly afterwards, it expanded to 16, and existing theatres were converted to stadium seating (some of which became rather cramped as a result).
I remember the old days of the Route 1 Flea Market on this site, and I also remember the buzz when this multiplex first opened. This is a very nicely-designed multiplex with nice large auditoriums and screens – a refreshing change of pace from the scaled-down multiplexes of the ‘80s. The stadium seating was a little off-putting at first, but I got used to it pretty quickly. I also enjoyed the new food options, as pricey as they were – unfortunately they stopped serving buffalo wings and sssupreme nachos after AMC took over.
And yeah, how about that grave? I heard they might move it if these new developments around the theater go through.

This is similar in design to the Loews in New Brunswick, but smaller and not quite as fancy. Did this open before or after the NB multiplex?
