I used to go here & Movies 12 a lot in the 7 months – the first time – I lived in Edmonton, as those 2 were the cheap theatres.

When I lived in Edmonton the first time for 7 months, basically the end of ‘06 to mid-July '07, I went here a lot, it was a cheap theatre like the Cineplex in the west food court in WEM. It didn’t show South Asian movies back then.

I used to go here a lot the first & only time I lived in Calgary – which was also the first time I lived in AB, and would move to Edmonton the end of ‘06 for 7 months, then left the province – between summer of '05 to winter of '06.

The last movie I saw at the Plaza was “Places in the Heart” (1984), I was 8. I no longer lived with my former foster family in Athelstan, QC as I got moved into Allancroft Group Home – unit Woodside –in Beaconsfield, QC earlier that year. But I’d still visit them.

The first time I went to that theatre was approx. late winter to early spring of ‘84, I was living at the group home Allancroft in the unit called Woodside that was located in Beaconsfield on Elm Ave. I saw the “Conan the Destroyer”. I clearly remember Liz taking us there, we went to eat dinner first at Buffet Chow’s — surprisingly this restaurant is still there & operating. I’d go there a few times over the years until ‘88, I do remember one of the last movies I saw there was “Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home”. But the very last movie I saw there — and went to eat at Buffet Chow’s first — was in late '99 when I was visiting Montreal for the first time since I left in early '92 and the movie was “Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo”.

The first time I went to that drive-in was approx. the summer of ‘84, I was living at the group home Allancroft in the unit called Woodside that was located in Beaconsfield on Elm Ave. I saw the “The NeverEnding Story” as part of a double feature along with “National Lampoon’s Vacation”. The group home had a grey station wagon, and I remember a few of us laid on the top and the staff — I clearly remember Tony taking us there — had the windows rolled down so we could hear the movie while we watched it.
