This is my new neighborhood theater, having moved to Woodstock a few months ago. I added two new photos. The theater is well attended and may have been recently renovated to include recliner seats.
My wife and I saw The Lighthouse the evening of October 25, 2019. I added some pictures from the lobby. I would have gotten our auditorium, but it was too dark for pictures… even with the “Noovie” playing!
I saw “Batman” at this theater on its opening night in 1989. The projectionist tried to string two prints to four auditoriums and the show was delayed for over an hour…
My wife and I attended a screening of “Into the Spider-Verse” on December 28 and I took pictures, now added to the photos section. Since this theater is part of a shopping center, I expected the auditoriums to be kind of small, but not semi-circular in layout. The auditorium we were in was surprisingly spacious and there wasn’t a bad seat.
The theater itself is about a mile and a half from one of those large Tanger Outlet Malls and I would imagine sees some business from the shopping crowd. I don’t live near this theater, but it is across the street from a restaurant I wanted to eat at, so we decided to give the theater a go. We most likely will return but, since this is a small town cineplex, it will be more of a “why not” than anything else.
I found out that the second auditorium at the Plaza opened on Christmas Day, 1975. I’ve added a “coming soon” and a “opening” photo to the photo section. I still think the main Ultra-Vision theater was split in 1978.
My wife and I attended a screening of “Ready Player One” on Sunday, April 1, that was well attended. The audience was mostly college students. There was no policy trailer; just five trailers plus the feature film.
The concession stand attendant, however, did bring to us the pretzels we ordered before the movie unobtrusively. The projection and sound were top notch. Definitely a great addition to university movie theaters across the country.
I have added two more photos of the theater courtesy the Facebook group “You Grew Up in Columbus, GA.” Just a couple of shots of the front, but they are now there.
I was in Florence, AL this weekend and snapped these two pictures. From the road, I could ascertain what looked like a quad configuration (sorry I couldn’t get that picture).
I attended a brunch screening of “Deadpool” here last month in one of the single-aisle (and smaller) auditoriums. Whoever retrofitted the theater also made sure that you could see the entire screen should the move be in 2.35:1. When I attended this theater as an AMC from 1991-2002, I would avoid any single-aisle auditorium if I knew the film would be in scope. That is no longer the case (but I had to wonder why they moved “Deadpool” into a smaller auditorium on only its second week…)
I loved the popcorn at this theater when GTC ran it: salty, but tasty. Also, some of the auditoriums had that 70s look about them, which lent to a film’s atmosphere at times. Darn shame this one was demolished.
@MikeRogers, it was a Georgia Theatre Company property once. I remember driving by it in 1984, which boasted the GTC logo on both sides of the marquee.
I added some new photos of auditorium 6 along with some lobby shots. The box office and snack bar still look the same.

I saw Godzilla: King of the Monsters here on June 30. Regular admission is now $3.50 and 3D pictures are now $5. One new picture coming soon.

I erroneously reported that an auditorium was built from the ground up in 1977. It was built in 1975 or 1976, still researching when.
The theater is also no longer second run (but the admission prices are lower to the other theaters in town).
@rayman29, do you know if the signage outside the theater will reflect AMC?

This theater opened in the summer of 1981. Its first two features were “Raiders of the Lost Ark” and “The Cannonball Run.”
