This theatre is demolished, last think standing was screen in approximately 2011, though all surrounding earth had been removed and it was sitting there on a now-elevated (10-15 feet high?) chunk of earth just waiting for the end.
I was under the impression that the Belle/McCarthy closed in approximately 1960 and for many years was the “Stephen Licence” hobby/bike shop. This building was altered very little as the owner thought it might return to theatre use someday, which of course it has, as the “Empire Theatre”, showing movies and live music/stage acts.
The “current Orpheum” is nothing more than a small building hosting mining artifacts and displays in the parking lot of a narrow-gauge tourist railway. It is tiny and has windows in it and was NEVER a theatre. Somebody at one time must have figured it would be nostalgic to attach a small “Orpheum Theatre” sign on the building, for lack of a better idea.
Facebook page mentions installation of new seats and digital projection. Privately owned in rural town of 2,200 residents.
