The Address is correct , but the picture was of a house . The monthly movie schedule posted above is from 1939 when the Guild theatre was known as the Menlo Theatre
I walked by the Coronet Theatre one Fall day in 1966 and saw a Help Wanted sign on the Box office window, remembering the time years earlier when my brother and I saw Ben Hur, I decided to apply for a Job. I was hired and started working that very night as an usher . I stayed for 10 years .many memories of the people I worked with, the movies that premiered and the crowd of theatre goers from “Hawaii ” in ‘66 to “ Star Wars in '77
The picture above was not the Menlo Theatre.it was located one block west of ElCamino Real in a building that was once occupied by the B of A ,which is currently across the street.
The building on Broadway that was next door to the B of A on the corner was an appliance store from 1950 to 1980 ( Art Blumenthal ). Schneiders was on the corner across from the courthouse
nice story John T , but you didn’t arrive until ‘75 . Do you know if any thing has been salvaged from inside the building . i ’m especially interested in the small chimes that were found in the room behind the marquee.
