Latino Theater
The same site as the Triboro Theater, Gotham theater, and other earlier incarnations.
The Latino Theater officially opened for business on Thursday, Sept 8th, 1966. A film was screened. On Sunday, Sept. 11th, the theater hosted a huge “gala” affair celebrating the new operation on 125th Street bet. 3rd and Lexington Avenue. For the first time in the history of 125th Street, a working active theater open for business was comprised of Latino ownership. It would also be the last time.
