If you hate cooking and you can’t afford to hire a part-time cook then the business can’t be working that well. Do yourself a favour; clear out all your equipment at the end of the month and let someone else take the lease. Then your problem will be theirs.

Does anyone know the name of the agent or the person who owns it?

Or even better just give me the name and address so I can take over the lease when you leave!

Does anyone know the name of the real estate agency with which it is listed?

Hey Joe, why dont you let us in on the name of the theater and the name of the town. Before someone invests that much money, they might actually want to know where it is. The fact that it’s in your home town is not really that important!

I understand it went up for auction yesterday. Do you know who bought it and for how much?

Now its clear that the theatre in question is the Lorraine Theatre because the phone number is the same as in the add for the Lorraine.

Yeah I agree, it would be nice to have some pictures as well as some information on the number of seats, the location and maybe even the asking price.

Sad but true and theres no way to contact the owner John Gee. The asking price is only 110 000. I would buy it tommorrow if I had the chance to meet the owner. But I think once the city has put a demolition order against the politics involved must stick like fish. It would probably be hard to overturn the raise order. By then the developer is throwing so much money in the face of the civil servant, he just wants to get it over with.

I talked to the civil servant taking care of it and for some reason he could'nt tell me why it had a demolition order against it. Someone must be paying off the city officials because they have something else planned for that spot. Its kind of sick when you think about it.

I think some rich developer is paying off some city official so he can destroy it and build condos!

I’ve seen the Ramona on loopnet.com. Its very nice and I can understand that the seller would like to get his improvement dollars back. But thats the problem for me it would be more cost effective to buy one in need of repair since I want to transform it into a concert venue. I dont want to destroy something as nice as the Ramona.

I’m planning on transforming a performing arts theatre into a cultural entertainment venue for just about any form of live entertainment e.g. music, comedy, dance, competitions of various kinds. I’ve been in the business for 20 years now and I beleive there’s a market for it if I can find the right place at the right price in the right location. Until then I’ll keep on searching.

I’m glad that it fell into the right hands. It would be a pity to see a beautifull building like that torn down to make condos. I wish you all the best of luck with the fund raising and the restorations.

Thanks for your comment BillG, I looked it up on the internet. Its a little bit small for what I had in mind and I’m looking more for a theatre with a nice stage.

I’ve seen pictures of the Port theatre, it seems to need A LOT of work. I think the place has been gutted to make an auction house. I think it would be more cost effective to build a new theatre. Do you have any idea where the biding will start?

I think you’re probably right-its worth something to someone. But with all the theatres on the market today I’m going to take my time and look for a better location. The fact that theres so many theatres dark at the moment suggests that not all can survive. You need the best location and the best acts to survive. Look at what happened to Livent, they had the best shows in the business. When Phantom of the opera started at pantages, it was sold out for two years in a row-thats unheard of. Yet they went tits up as well! I understand that the local government has plans for capital so I’ll leave it to them.

I know that the Capital theatre in Winsor is up for grabs. Unfortunately the location is not that great. Its just across the bridge from Niagara Falls. Thats why it went tits up.
