Original Paintings from Armstrong-Powers Studios of Los Angeles

Press Tribune 26 May 1926

“These paintings were a series of paintings that depicted the history of Roseville and the surrounding counties. The article added “many months were spent by two artists of the Armstrong-Powers Studios of Los Angeles in painting the series of pictures. They were then very carefully packed and sent to Roseville in a special car and hung on the walls of the new theater.”

The two large paintings in this photo depict a covered wagon and a steam locomotive painted in the impressionistic style of the era and were part of a series created by the Armstrong-Powers Studios of Los Angeles, a major design house for movie theaters at the time. Armstrong-Powers created all of the design elements in the original theater which sadly have all been lost to history.
