From the Fairport Herald-Mail Thursday, December 9, 1926: New Schine Movie In Main Street
Announcement has been made that the J.M. Schine Corporation, of Gloversville NY, have purchased the property at the north of the Green Lantern Inn in South Main Street, on which to erect a theater at an expense of $125,000 and have it ready for operation in March.
The Schine Corporation has upwards of 100 moving picture houses in the state. The new Fairport theater will have a seating capacity of 1,200 persons and it is said will feature vaudeville as well as moving pictures. It will be under the management of Solomon Schafer, who is manager of the Grand Theater in Rochester.
The building is to be of one story, with a frontage of 60 feet in South Main Street and 120 feet deep. The front will be of cast stone and bronze in Italian Renaissance design, and there will be two stores in the building, one on each side of the main entrance.
