Favorite movies: Without question the ravishing Lawrence of Arabia first seen at the Metropole Victoria in London, where an uncle opened my eyes to epic cinema with El Cid and Spartacus. Over the years I have been thrilled to watch four successive and improved versions of Gance's 1927 Napoléon with live orchestral accompaniment.
