When the above photo was taken, the theatre had previously closed due to extensive water damage. In 2001 the Pondera Arts Council purchased the theater and started a complete renovation from private donations and a large grant from Wiegand. The interior is complete with refurbished art deco seats, fixtures, and organ. New additions like surround sound and a full stage have also been added. Funds are being obtained to purchase a giant neon marquee. It finally will look like it was meant to be.
This theatre is only shut down until the owners raise $40,000 for a new heating system. They do plan on reopening after auctioning off posters found in the theatre from the 30’s on.
I just found out that the Wilma was put up for sale in 2002. It is still for sale and the listing I found for it said the asking price was 4,250,000.00! Wow!

The other Midway Drive In is also a single screen and is located in the neihboring town of Columbia Falls, Montana. Was also recently there…
I know for a fact that it is not a double screen, I was just there last weekend. The only double screen drive in in Montana is the SilverBow.
Does anybody know of any theatres for sale in Montana?
I just watched a program on the discovery channel called urban explorers. Part of the show was on the Uptown Theatre, It was quite interesting!
