Is it really true that the Paris is being equipped to project 70mm?

@markp @xbs2034 That’s too bad that 70mm was removed from house #1. I saw Dunkirk in there in Super Panavision 70mm and it was great. AMC really stinks. House #2’s screen isn’t big enough to get the full effect of 70mm (I saw Hateful Eight in 70mm in house #2).

P.S. did they get rid of the balcony too? If they did, what utter shits. Actually, that whole complex has become kind of a run down dump. But they wasted $$$$$$$ to install a “Dolby Cinema” while the rest of the place falls apart, and is dirty and run down looking.

There is no such thing as “lossless” digital sound. Digital is lossless by nature. It’s an inherent trait. They can call it “lossless” all they want, that will never make it true.

Having said that:

Does anyone know if House #1, the “Lowes”, still has the capability to project 70mm film? Or has that been lost since they converted it at greatand wasteful expense to the pointless gimmick of a “Dolby Cinema” theatre. Yay. Giant projection screen television.

Roadshows were special, and meant to be that way. It’s only in recent times that standard movie runs in the U.S. have adopted reserved seating. And it’s about time. I’m very happy about it. Like I said, “FINALLY!!!”

Nice restaurant, but the cinemas themselves have the most uncomfortable seats I have ever sat in, and they also have bad acoustics because of plain brick walls. But hey, it’s trendy.

Reserved seating is AWESOME!!!! Thank you City Cinemas for reserved seating! General admission seating is for animals! Reserved seating is great! Reserve your tickets and seats in advance, and donkt worry about standing in line or having to get there early! It’s the civilized way to see a film, and reserved seating has long been the norm internationally. Finally the U.S. catches up. I’m very pleased with this. It’s the way all cinemas should be!

This place is awesome. The photo used as the main photo here is old and out of date, taken before the renovation/remodeling and new construction completed in 2011. The Redstone auditorium is the best place in the city to view film, and the sound is fantastic. Five years on and the theatre is still in basically pristine condition. No food or drinks allowed – indeed none are sold ouside of the museum cafe. Water seems to be okay. This place sells no popcorn, no soda and no candy, thankfully. A lovely little museum store always has something interesting for me to browse, and of course, the museum galleries themselves are great. Highly recommended.

Digital cinema sucks. It’s just watching a giant TV. #film #realfilm #35mm #70mm #SuperPanavison70 #UltraPanavision70 #filmforever
