The streamlined “new” FOX Theatre on Galena Boulevard seen in 1935 at the height of its popularity. Hard to believe the much altered building still stands today as the home of Aurora Fast Print! The double feature starts off with “Ah, Wilderness” the movie adaptation of Eugene O’Neill’s popular 1933 play starring popular character actor Wallace Beery, Lionel Barrymore and a very young Mickey Rooney. Next, “Your Uncle Dudley” was a vehicle for comedy star Edward Everett Horton. Horton would later be the voice of the Fractured Fairy Tales as part of The Rocky & Bullwinkle Show from 1959-61. Both movies deal with subjects of patriotism / socialism, American ideals, journalism, young love, small business and civic pride in small town America.
