I went to the Thunderbird Drive-In from 1973 until around 1977 before it closed down and demolished to build a Safeway warehouse/business park complex. It had a large colorful neon thunderbird on the screen facing out to Clay Road. Towards the end, it was only open during spring/summer/early fall in its last couple of years of operation.
I think the Tower was used for some of the Sensurround pictures of the mid-1970s…I saw Earthquake there when it first opened.
