Just an aside, but I think it’s safe to say that most every show was filmed at the Capitol, quite a large percentage as it happens, but I know of at least one show for certain that was not filmed – Ozzy Osbourne’s April 1981 performance. (This has just been confirmed by John Scher himself.)
Moyssi, thanks again for the info.
This past summer, I took my 5 year old nephew to the Odeon. I’d been there several times in the weeks before, but had never gone inside. The washrooms and concession area are a complete disgrace! When was the last time they cleaned the place? Honestly, if they were to just clean up and revamp the building a bit (paving the lot might be going a bit too far), I think it would be far more appealing and bring in more business.
However, that said, the overall experience was great… sitting in the comfort of your vehicle while watching a double feature like this is very cool! I will be there again when it opens (hopefully), and be bringing some friends.
I hope that the owners will be wise enough to sink a little money into it in order to draw more crowds in the future. The drive-in experience is totally unique.
Moyssi/Roscomouse…
Thank you for the invaluable info you’ve provided about the Capitol. (And great site, btw. I have a flyer from June 10, 1978 – Journey/Starcastle.)
I’ve been waiting years for confirmation from someone that (most of) the concerts there were professionally filmed. (I’ve always thought this, as I have a copy of the Dec. 10, 1975 Rush concert from there.) As I’m sure a lot of people are, I’m very much interested in specific shows and would love to see them see the light of day sometime soon (before time completely destroys the tapes). Here’s hoping.
Imho, I think turning the Met into a “nightclub/rock museum” is a tremendous mistake. It’s wrong for so many reasons. Can you say “Hard Rock Cafe?” Why not just get a Hard Rock here then?
Personally, I believe the theatre should be restored to its former glory from an architectural standpoint and then utilized as a “dual-format” venue, presenting movies as well as concerts. (Not unlike the Capitol in Passaic, NJ was… only with regular films, not porn).
Like changing the name of the Walker Theatre (which I always will refer to her as), the identity of the theatre is lost forever for the upcoming generations.
CentreVenture’s mandate be damned… we need to SAVE THE MET! DON’T LET CANADINNS DESTROY IT!!!
The Stones on 7/14/78? Very close to the date of one of the shows I’m looking for…
I would hope that these get released as well. It would be a shame for someone to just sit on this goldmine.
TC, might I ask where you found this list?
Sounds like it was a great venue.
I understand that they had in-house video facilities and they filmed every concert to play there. Does anyone know if the vault/library survived (was moved before the fire) and, if so, where the remaining collection is?
Thanks…

Anyone remember when it was open year round?
Coolness.
