Tra-Bay Theatre
Having opened in May of 1935, the Tra-Bay narrowly missed its 20th Anniversary closing for good on August 2, 1954 with “On Top of Old Smoky” and “The Glass Wall” as reflected in their last walls. Milliken’s would take on the Tra-Bay for clearance sales in November of 1955 before trading it to Hamilton’s which would gut the theater for retail clothing sales space in 1958. Butterfield Theatres would remove the projection equipment and donate it to the Traverse City State Hospital to replace their 1920’s era equipment.
