Tragically, the Laurier Palace became one of the most studied theaters by builders following the horrible fire that took so many young lives in 1927. The second of the two main culprits in the fire trap is shown here. In the basement, narrow passages into the rest rooms and poor pedestrian flow meant almost no possibility for exiting for those trapped in the fire.
