In June of 1921, the independently-operated new theater would be opened by H.L. McIntyre and R.I. Diffenderffer on Main Street. So they had a naming contest to name the new Main Street theater. And the winning name was: the Main Street Theatre. Not too original but that was the venue’s moniker at launch on August 29, 1921.
