Elmira Drive-In
The top section of the Elmira’s Grand Opening Thank You full-page ad in the April 15, 1949 Star-Gazette. I previously uploaded the full ad, but I wanted to capture more of the detail of the grainy photo, which shows how little the front has changed in 60+ years. (Note that the photo’s unseen white border clips the 8 in “800 Car Capacity” and L in “Largest Screen”.) This also captures the drive-in’s early spelling uncertainty - “theatre” in 6-foot neon letters but “theater” in the ad. Almost certainly in the public domain by now, but don’t just take my word for it.
