Around 1916. The Modern Theatre had been recently completed. The “N” in the vertical marquee can be seen over the entrance, right. This is Westminster Street (a segment that no longer exists), looking down toward the intersection with Empire Street.

The film title on the banner over the entrance is “Gloria’s Romance,” which was a 1916 movie-serial with Billie Burke. It had 20 episodes, all of which are now lost.
