UA Buena Park 8 Glass Facade Skeleton, 2021
In the UA 8’s heyday, this towering skeletal structure above the theater was adorned with tinted glass tiles.
A front-lit “BUENA PARK MALL” sign beckoning shoppers and moviegoers, apparently as late as 2005, according to photos from William Kallay*: http://www.fromscripttodvd.com/70mm_in_orange_county_buena_park_mall.htm
As of 2021, only a few of the structure’s trademark glass tiles still remain. Most are gone, lost to time. The rusty skeleton remains as perhaps the most visible reminder of the building’s past, as it still can be seen towering over the mall by passersby on La Palma Avenue, or by eagle-eyed thrillseekers looking to pass the time on their slow, 252-foot ascent up Supreme Scream.
