This photo was taken on Oct. 10, 1962 and supposedly appeared a month later in the Nov. 14 issue of the Daily Oklahoman. (I couldn’t find it.) Its caption was “Show’s over at Shawnee’s Criterion Theater, while another theater a couple of blocks away on Shawnee’s Main Street bears similar legend, and the outdoor drive-in on SH 18 south of the city is also a has-been.”
The photo is part of the Oklahoma Publishing Company Photography Collection at the Oklahoma Historical Society, which says that its copyright status is undetermined.
