The cinema quickly installed the new Xenon lamps and big reels -to save distractions from the old twenty-minute reel changes necessary with Ark lamps. Kevin Had a stereo sound system locally designed as soon as films were provided in Dolby Stereo. The electronics was installed by his electronics man in Rockhampton. The international versions were prohibitively expensive. Polarized 3D and a silver screen was installed for THE WAX MUSEUM. Queensland’s first provincial Liquor bar theatre licence was granted for a bar in the foyer. Take way Video tape home movies and a movie souvenir shop was installed in the foyer. Provincial Queensland’s biggest indoor curved screen was installed in time for CLIFFHANGER. The ceiling had to be raised by two meters on the screen end of the auditorium. Two small theatres were added to let the complex show movies for the season length required to get movies on the Australian release date (previously Yeppoon was a second run only venue for sixty years). Film festivals were run with help from the national screen and sound archive. Bud Tingwell opened the festival in 2002 introducing the complex as one that was obviously very special.
