Ozone, Alberton, showing proximity to the railway.
The Ozone was erected on the Waterman Brothers' land next to their residence only a couple of minutes' walk from the suburban Alberton railway station. The noise of steam trains passing was little deterrent in the silent era, but became a problem when sound arrived as trains whistled for the level crossing and accelerated out of the station bound for the city. To say nothing of the delightful smell of coal smoke drifting in through the ventilators! It was a fine and popular theatre nevertheless.
