Photograph taken June 1960 of Pilot showing front area of the cinema, little changed since its opening. The entrance being through Art Deco gate piers supporting stylized square illuminated cubes. Beyond can be viewed the cinema facade with “Spartacus” film display upon canopy partially concealing cinema name. Interestingly a faded inscription lies below the name and flag staff stanchions. I wonder if the pair of elongated white diamond symbols above the recessed Pilot name had any connection?
