The Firefly Theatre occupied this site in Sellwood, Oregon from 1922 (when it opened as the original Sellwood) through 1941. The corner of 13th and Spokane was known as Sellwood’s “Theater Row” during the silent era. Theaters on three of the corners at different times were the Alpha, the Isis, the Star, the Sellwood and the Firefly. The new Sellwood and the Moreland, in the same neighborhood, would eventually drive all of them out of business.
