Opened in 1922 as the Sellwood Theatre. In 1923 it was renamed Firefly Theatre. It suffered damage from a projection room fire on June 19, 1939. It continued to illuminate in the night sky into the 1940’s.

This web page about Portland’s early movie theaters says that the house that became the Firefly opened in 1922 as the first location of the Sellwood Theatre.
Damaged by a projection-related fire on June 19, 1939.
