Sol Abrams uproots the Japanese-styled Mikado Theater entirely in a shocking streamline makeover inside and out that relaunched on August 12, 1939. When Pearl Harbor occurred in December of 1941, Fanchon & Marco / St. Louis Amusement Circuit immediately held a contest to rename the venue. It went with the patriotic Victory Theatre with new signage and marketing beginning on January 23, 1942 complete with a defense bond rally targeting $25,000 in sales.
